In order to qualify for a boiler grant through the governments ECO scheme, there is a certain benefits related criteria which needs to be met. Your property must also be on a mains gas, oil or LPG supply, the boiler looking to be replaced must be at least 5 years old and you must be the home owner, or private tenant. If you receive any of the below main benefits listed on the left, you will also need to receive at least ONE of the additional components from the list on the right in the same row:
Only those in receipt of certain benefits will fit the criteria to claim a free boiler grant. Also, the boiler which is hoping to be replaced must be at least 8 years old (non condensing), or, be between 5-8 years old but carry a fault which effects its overall efficiency and operation. It must be deemed by an engineer to be beyond 'economical' repair.
The style of property in which you live is also taken in to consideration to, the older and more in-efficient your property is, the more funding it will yield to go towards the grant. If you have a very efficient property, you may need to contribute a small amount to cover the cost of the install.
Finally, you must be on a mains gas, oil or LPG supply. Free Boiler grants are now available to those in off gas areas.
Because we are part of the EU, the UK needs to reduce the 'carbon footprint' of its housing stock dramatically. The Energy Company Obligation has been put in place to make the 'Big Six' energy companies fund the installation of home efficiency measures such as free boilers, and insulation.
Grant applications can be very complicated, so, we've built a super easy online system which will determine if you could claim within a matter of minutes. We've also built an approved, qualified and insured network of free gas, LPG and oil boiler installers who will be able to assist you with your install.
